Air Covers at the South Pole!
Posted: Jan 2007

Our two intrepid pilots, Jennifer Murray and Colin Bodill, have landed their Bell 407 at the South Pole. After days of poor weather during which they had to shelter in tents buried under snow, the skies cleared and they flew in to the Scott Amundsen Research Station to a warm welcome from the resident international team of scientists.

Jennifer records in her diary that they omitted to fit the covers on one stop with the result that the engine became clogged with snow, taking half a day to clear! (Sasha, our QM says 'Always fit your covers -even if you're parked in your garden!')

The two pilots are now on their way North to reach the North Pole. You can follow their progress here.
